What made this wine fit our theme for the night?: Nicole brought this wine and it was an adventure as she would never have bought it otherwise!

Comments:  Wow – This wine got us talking and had lovers and haters. I LOVED it! I would have thought it was fruit wine – like an apricot wine – and not made from grapes. It was light and sweet (as it should be) but the orange flavor blew me away! It actually got 3 5’s but a few 2’s as well. The 2’s skewed it.  I would highly recommend trying this dessert wine. And at only $16 it was a great value too. My wine friends are crazy. The whole bottle was gone so it deserved a better score!

Here is a quote from their website – Essensia – From 100% Orange Muscat with an aroma reminiscent of Orange Blossom and Apricot, and a lingering refreshing aftertaste, Essensia is used as a dessert accompaniment or a dessert in itself. The Orange Muscat grape variety is little known. It was once grown in France and there are some small plantings in Italy and Australia. The wine is lightly fortified to about 15% alcohol and aged for 3 months in French Oak. The wine tastes balanced, like the taste of fresh fruit.

Essensia’s vibrant flavor makes it an excellent accompaniment to desserts, particularly chocolate and those containing almonds, peaches, apples, or apricots. It is also used for dipping biscotti, for moistening cakes, or for adding to trifles. With sparkling water, it makes a refreshing spritzer; with sparkling wine it makes Essensia Royale.

It has loads of awards if you like that sort of thing….

Would I buy this wine again? Love, Love, Loved this dessert wine. Blown away by the amazing flavor and it was light enough to have with dessert – not for dessert!
